Following the loosening of restrictions by Montgomery County this week, we were hopeful that we could plan a summer season for our baseball-hungry players, coaches and families. Unfortunately as we researched the requirements to conduct a program, such as training requirements, wearing of masks by everyone, volunteers/coaches checking temperatures, and limiting participation to ten or less people (coaches plus players) for drill-based practices only, we realized that it is not a realistic option for a volunteer-run organization like aours. It was with a heavy heart that the Board voted to cancel the intramural/rec program until the Fall.
While we know this is disappointing news, we are encouraged by the beginning of some sports activities in the county. The Board is taking advantage of the downtime to plan for an early start to the Fall Season. If the county continues to loosen restrictions, we hope to be able to start fall team practices in the beginning of August. Registration would open up in the early part of July.
UMAC is a volunteer-operated, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. If you are able to donate your Spring fee to support our organization and our ongoing costs (e.g., field and site maintenance), please email email@example.com or send donations through our website at www.umacbaseball.com.
We are also a community organization and know that some families are in need due to job loss or other unexpected expenses. We have honored refund requests for Spring fees and will continue to do so through June 12, 2020. After June 12, spring fees paid will be maintained as a credit towards the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 season. Please note that many refunds have to be made by check and mailed to the address on your registration profile.
We thank you for your patience and support as we deliberated and weighed options. We look forward to playing baseball again in the Fall.
Take care of each other and be safe.
