WHAT IS UMAC?
Montgomery Athletic Club), a Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth League-affiliated
organization, has been providing age-appropriate T-Ball, Machine Pitch and Kid
Pitch Baseball for more than 50 years. UMAC stresses
sportsmanship, fun and basic baseball fundamentals.
The UMAC baseball
program uses competitive baseball rules and teaches skills, mental and physical
development, respect for the rules of the game, and basic ideals of
sportsmanship and fair play. UMAC is
committed to providing our participants the very best educational sports
experience possible. It is our fundamental belief that every child with a
desire to play baseball should be afforded that opportunity.

SELECT/ALL-STAR PROGRAM: UMAC’s
Select program is designed for players who are ready to be challenged with a
higher level of competition. Select teams choose players through a competitive
evaluation process conducted by Select Team Coaches.
Select Teams generally play in a league
outside of UMAC’s Rec Program during the Fall and/or Spring seasons,
pending approval by UMAC’s Select Commissioner. Select Teams typically travel
for games throughout the area (DC/MD/VA) and often play in one or more
tournaments during the season. The cost of the Select Program varies depending
on the number of tournaments played, league fees, and custom uniforms. Once a
player has been chosen for a Select Team, playing time is not guaranteed and is
subject to the discretion of the Select Team Coach/Manager. Roster spots are
also not guaranteed.

12U divisions. These teams represent UMAC at Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth
sanctioned tournaments (e.g. the Maryland State Cal Ripken tournament). The
All-Star teams also play a summer season, following the conclusion of the
Spring Rec season. To be eligible, players must have participated in the Spring
Rec season OR Spring Select season for their age group. Tryouts for the Summer
All-Stars are typically held in mid-May.
